Body discovered in Surrey believed to be missing south Londoner

The body of a south Londoner who went missing nearly a week ago has been found in Surrey, detectives believe.

Daniel Deelchand, 36, was last seen on Thursday September 12 leaving his home in Morden.

His disappearance was reported to police the next day.

Surrey Police were called on Monday after a body was discovered in Banstead Heath.

The death is being treated as unexpected and there is nothing to indicate it is suspicious at this stage.

Daniel’s family has been told that a body has been found.

A Met Police spokesperson added: “Detectives believe that a body discovered in Surrey is that of Daniel Deelchand, a 36-year-old man that had been reported missing from Morden. “Daniel’s family have been informed. Our thoughts are with them and we will ensure that they receive the appropriate support.
