Bobby Wagner is a saint.
Even though the Seahawks unceremoniously cut him a little over a year ago, Wagner is back home in Seattle where he belongs. Speaking in a Zoom interview with the team’s beat writers, Wagner said that he turned down more money from other teams and that he never wanted to leave in the first place.

Wagner has signed a contract that’s reported to be a one-year deal worth a total of $7 million. $5.5 million of it is fully guaranteed and the rest is incentives.
It may only be a one-year deal, but Wagner told the media that he doesn’t necessarily think that this will be his last year.

Wagner also said that he’ll be wearing his old No. 54 jersey and wants to retire with the Seahawks.
For now, he’ll have to get used to a new defensive scheme under Clint Hurtt. Wagner says he’s still willing to learn.

Wagner is projected to start alongside the team’s other free agent linebacker, former Steeler Devin Bush. The latest reporting on Jordyn Brooks indicates he might miss the entire 2023 season due to his ACL tear.
