This is a pretty remarkable deal for a defender who was slated to make around $20 million last season before Seattle released him.
After the Seahawks let him go Wagner signed a five-year deal with the Rams and quickly returned to form, re-establishing himself as the best off-ball linebacker in the NFL. In the end, Wagner earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade at his position.
However, LA is feeling the sting of their all-in approach to the 2021 season and is in fire-sale mode. Wagner was released and got interest from several teams – including the Cowboys and Chargers – before settling on returning to Seattle.
