Entertainer Bobby Davro has issued a heartfelt tribute to his "beautiful" fiancée a week after her death. He said it had taken him the time to feel "strong enough" to share his incredible pain.
The actor and comedian said they were heartbroken after Vicky Wright, 63, died on Thursday, May 4, after battling pancreatic cancer. Her dad, Wolverhampton Wanderers and England footballer Billy Wright, also battled pancreatic cancer. He passed away in September 1994 aged 70, just months after his diagnosis.
In the early hours of Friday (May 12), Bobby broke his silence saying: "It's been just over a week since my beautiful Vicky Wright left this world and its only now I feel strong enough to share my feelings. I want to thank everyone for their support and expressions of love and kindness you have shown me and Vicky's family and loved ones.."
He movingly added: "To think we will never hear her voice to hear laughter look into her beautiful eyes see her smile to hold her and to kiss her is devastating and so incredibly painful. She will be in my thoughts and in my heart forever. She was my Schluffe and I loved her and always will broken.
"I will miss you so very much and I will love you forever. RIP my beautiful Schluffe. No more pain darling. No more pain x"
Vicky and EastEnders star Bobby were together for 12 years. The actor popped the question last December.
Speaking about his fiancée’s illness last month, Bobby told The Daily Star: “It’s extremely, extremely, extremely painful.” He then detailed how he’d continued working throughout her illness.
“Thank goodness I’ve got my work, because it keeps my mind off this for a bit of time. I don’t want the fact I’m keeping working to sound selfish. Everyone who knows me knows it’s just a distraction for a bit of time from trying to help Vicky. I need to see people laughing, and I like that I can still make people laugh while dealing with this.”
