BMW smashes into popular Manchester restaurant with three rescued from wreckage

A BMW has been pictured after it crashed into the front of a restaurant on a busy road in the centre of Manchester.

The blue car smashed into the popular Red Chilli restaurant on Oxford Road at around 9.20pm, reported the Manchester Evening News.

Three men were led from the car by the fire service.

The car drove over the pavement at a road junction and hit the outside of the entrance of the restaurant.

Images show that the car appeared to have gone down a dip in front of the eatery.

Emergency services raced to the incident and closed off the pavement at the junction with Grafton Street after the crash.

Police were pictured at the scene, which was taped off outside the premises.

Pictures from the scene show the blue BMW dipping downwards over a footpath beside the glass exterior to the building, with fire crews called to help extract the car.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service said the vehicle had "gone into the front of a commercial property".

Three men from inside the car were led to safety after the crash, it is reported.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 9.20pm on Tuesday 1st November firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Oxford Road, in Manchester.

“Fire engines from Moss Side and Gorton stations quickly attended the scene. The incident involved one car which had gone into the front of a commercial property. Three men were led to safety from the vehicle by fire crews, before they were transferred to the care of colleagues from NWAS.

“Firefighters worked to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around 40 minutes.”

The Mirror has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a statement.
