Emergency services scrambled to the scene of a two-car smash in Reddish on Sunday evening (April 10) that saw a BMW plough into a garden hedge. The incident happened on Farley Way, at around 6pm.
A witness at the scene told the M.E.N that they saw the white car speeding along the long stretch of road, which has a limit of 30mph through a built up area, before the crash took place. Another person said that cars 'regularly speed up and down' Longford Road West and added that they were 'really worried' about their young children who often play out in the area.
Recovery vehicles were snapped at the scene, as well as ambulance vehicles from the North West Ambulance Service and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. A large police cordon was erected temporarily, blocking off the section of road and with the junction of Farley Way as residents watched on from outside the police tape.

The cordons remained in place for over two hours until around 8.30pm, on both Longford Road West and Farley Way, before both the badly damaged vehicles involved were towed away from the scene and the road then reopened.
Two people were rescued from the vehicles involved and treated by paramedics. They were later taken to hospital before firefighters used specialist equipment to make the area safe.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Just after 6pm this evening (Sunday 10th April), two fire engines from Gorton and Whitehill fire station along with the Technical Response Unit from Leigh were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Farley way, North Reddish.
“Crews arrived quickly at scene. Two people were rescued from the vehicles by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and were treated by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service, before being taken to hospital. Firefighters used dignity screen and Dammit mats to make the area safe. Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and a half.”
