An off-duty police officer spotted a BMW driver travelling along the M62 without one of its tyres.
North West Motorway Police confirmed that officers were told about a driver on the motorway before leaving the carriageway at junction nine near Warrington. When the car was eventually pulled over, the driver blew more than twice the legal drink drive limit and was arrested.
The police group took to social media to share the news of the arrest and to share a photo of the state of the car following the incident. The post said: "Our vehicle driving on its rims left the M62 at J9 & was stopped, no surprises that the driver provided a positive roadside reading of 83, over two times the legal drink drive limit and was arrested. Thanks to the off-duty colleague who rang this in #NoneForTheRoad."

People were quick to share their thoughts on the incident. Christina Carney said: "These people have total disregard for others' lives, hope the judge throws the hard card not soft one at them - good collar hope he’s made to resurface any damaged road too."
Andy Bright said: "Been on the motorways a lot today and there are soo many not keeping left, boils my blood."
Paul Deeming said: "Some people beggar belief."
