'Blustery' weather in Dublin today as Met Eireann gives glimpse at Christmas Day forecast

Weather in Dublin will be "blustery" today as temperatures drop off from yesterday's highs of 11 to 13 degrees.

Conditions in the capital will be mainly dry with sunny spell and a few passing showers. Southwest winds will be fresh and gusty and highest temperatures will reach 7 to 9 degrees.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells but a few showers will develop overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees with moderate to fresh, gusty south to southwest winds.

Tomorrow will be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells in Dublin. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest winds.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is Met Eireann's national outlook for the coming days, including Christmas Day:

Thursday

Thursday morning will be mainly dry with just a few showers in the north. Through the afternoon and evening, outbreaks of rain will develop in Munster and south Leinster.

"Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with mostly light breezes. Thursday night will be cold and mainly dry over the northern half of the country with frost, fog and lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees.

"Milder further south with lows of 2 to 6 degrees and some patchy rain or drizzle. Heavier and more persistent rain will push up from the south overnight."

Friday

"On Friday morning, rain will spread northwards and will persistent over the northern half of the country in the afternoon and evening. It will be heavy at times and may fall as sleet on high ground in Ulster.

"Brighter weather with showers will follow over the southern half of the country. Highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees in Ulster and from 6 to 9 degrees further south with moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Christmas Eve

"The outlook for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are uncertain. But at the moment, it looks like Christmas Eve will bring a mix of bright or sunny spells and some showers with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees and moderate to fresh southwest winds.

Christmas Day

"Christmas Day looks like being cool and bright with a mix of sunshine and showers with moderate westerly winds and highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees."
