Dwelling approvals data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show the Lower Hunter on a growth trajectory. Population is increasing and dwellings are being approved in response. By 2050, the Lower Hunter will be home to about 700,000 people, an increase of more than 20 per cent in the next 25 years.

About 65,000 dwellings will be needed.
