Congratulations on the new album! Are there any musical surprises for fans?
Antony: The first three Blue albums all had a nice rhythm and we had those in mind when we wrote this one. It’s got music for everyone – uptempo songs and classic ballads. This is Blue in 2022. There aren’t really any surprises, just music we’ve loved putting together.
How did you feel about releasing music for the first time in over five years?
Duncan: You can never take anything for granted in this industry. We’ve been together for 22 years and we’ve had some incredible highs and really bad lows, but we’ve always stuck together. We’ve had a couple of albums where we weren’t necessarily putting that best foot forward, but for this one we’re all on the same page.
Do you still enjoy each other’s company?
Antony: I wouldn’t be in a band with people who didn’t get on because life’s too short. The beauty of Blue is that we were friends before the band. We have a lot of respect and we have the love of brothers. Do we have disagreements? Absolutely, but we don’t have big- time rows.
Are you planning on being back for good?
Simon: The consensus is that we’re staying. We’ve never really left, but I hope we can reconnect with the public.
Do your kids enjoy your music?
Antony: I caught my middle kid Savannah singing Haven’t Found You Yet on the stairs in our house. I filmed her and she told me to go away. My 18-year-old [Emilie] came to a few of the album recording sessions. It’s going to be the icing on the cake for my little girls to see their dad perform.
Duncan: My daughter [Tianie] is 17 so she’s a bit too young to remember Blue the first time around. I told her that I was going back on tour and she was like, “That’s nice.” Then I told her I was going on Celebrity Gogglebox and she was much more excited.
