The Canberra-produced The Ned & Josh Podcast has taken out the fan-voted People's Choice Award at the 2024 RadioToday Podcast Awards 2024.
Produced daily in Canberra, The Ned & Josh Podcast is hosted by ex-radio duo and best mates Ned Breward and Josh Torney.
And the first people they have thanked for the award are the residents of Canberra.
The Ned & Josh Podcast achieved a Top 10 Apple and Spotify Podcast chart debut in its first month.
It has since gone on to amass more than 100,000 downloads, be heard in 68 countries and now, with this latest milestone, can add "award winning" to its résume.
"With the majority of our downloads coming from the Canberra region, we know who we have to thank for this exciting honour," Josh said.
"We are blown away and just so grateful that we've always been able to count on this community when it's mattered the most.
"That foundation is allowing us to let the podcast reach further afield while still living in the city we love."
Ned agreed.
"Canberra's support has allowed us the freedom to find our feet with this new medium," he said.
"My parents were initially worried about this whole 'podcast' idea and now I can show them a trophy, so hopefully that'll calm them down a tad."
The RadioToday Podcast Awards celebrate excellence in Australian podcasting, recognising shows that resonate with audiences and contribute to the growing podcasting industry.
Australia has overtaken the US to become the most avid podcast listeners on earth. About 43 per cent of the population has listened to a podcast in the past month.
The largest group of listeners by age is between 18-54. The People's Choice Award reflects the "genuine connection between podcasters and their listeners".
