Blood-stained door pictured at scene of 'disturbance' as three people hurt following stabbing

Three people were hurt following a reported stabbing in Tameside.

Emergency services, including police officers and paramedics, were called to Yew Tree Road in Denton just after 9.30am this morning (Saturday). A cordon was put in place around a block of flats and a shared courtyard was taped off.

A woman was taken to hospital, police said. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two other people 'presented' at hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Detectives believe it was 'isolated' incident.

Extra officers will be deployed in the area to reassure people, cops said. A cordon remained in place on Saturday afternoon.

A number of flats have been taped off. A smaller cordon is also in place around a shared, communal courtyard.

Pictures taken at the scene earlier showed what appeared to be a blood-stained door. One neighbour told the Manchester Evening News they 'heard a man shouting' and saw someone 'covered in blood'.

Another neighbour said they believed a 'party got out of hand'. Officers urged anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9:30 am this morning (Saturday 18 March) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a stabbing at Yew Tree Road, Denton. "Thankfully, her injuries are not thought to be life threatening. A further two individuals believed to be involved have presented at hospital with serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life threatening.

"Upon conducting initial enquiries this is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public, but extra officers will be deployed to the area for community reassurance."

Detective Sergeant Pete Goddard of GMP Tameside district said: "A scene will continue to be in place whilst we conduct further searches and enquiries. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to one of our officers, they are here to help.

"GMP are taking a robust approach to knife crime in the Greater Manchester area, and this is no exception. I would encourage anyone with information that may help officers in their initial investigation to get in touch with GMP by calling 0161 856 9262 or 101 quoting log 1077 of 18/3/2023.
