Manchester United fans are not happy at the club’s decision to block yet another move for a player – this time Dean Henderson.
The Manchester Evening News has learnt that United have blocked Watford’s attempts to sign Henderson on loan, with the goalkeeper looking set to remain at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old had been the subject of interest of interest from Newcastle before Watford’s efforts emerged, but both clubs look to have been denied.
The news comes after United also blocked Newcastle’s attempts to sign Jesse Lingard on loan, with the winger also looking as though he will remain with the Reds for the rest of the campaign as the clock ticks down on deadline day.
And, like the decision to block Lingard’s move, United choosing to prevent Henderson moving away has proven unpopular with the club’s supporters.
Many of them point to Henderson’s lack of playing time, having looked set to challenge for the number one spot last season, and the fact United also have Tom Heaton in reserve.
Henderson has been linked with a move away from United for some time, with the academy product left frustrated at his lack of playing time this season.
He informed Ralf Rangnick of his wish to leave last month and Ajax held preliminary discussions about a potential loan, with Henderson prepared to leave the club permanently in order to secure regular playing time.
Instead, like Lingard, he now looks as though he will have to wait until the summer before he can secure any move away.
