Blind teenager Kaiden on top of the world as he reaches Ben Nevis summit

A DETERMINED Scottish teenager has shown there's no mountain high enough to get the better of him.

Cowdenbeath resident Kaiden Ward, who is blind, tackled and conquered Ben Nevis with his step dad Allan Goodwin.

The 16 year-old had asked to take part in the challenge with Allan, who was taking on the peak with members of the Cowdenbeath Karate Club where he is an instructor.

Proud sister Chloe said it was her little brother's biggest achievement yet.

"He had gone with the Karate Club and Kaiden and my step dad kept back and did it themselves in nine hours," she said.

"He did struggle a little and said he is never doing it again but he did it.

"They had a rope type thing which they attached to their wrist just for safety but Kaiden did it himself.

"It is the first time he has done something like this – he had never climbed any hills."

Chloe said her brother, who enjoys boxing, is keen to not let his condition stop him.

"He loves his sports," she added.

"That is one thing he always says, 'I am never going to let my disability put me off anything'.

"He does the boxing and he wants to prove that it can be done."
