A neglected dog with severely matted fur has been found dumped at the side of a canal.
The Shih Tzu was too terrified to move when he was discovered by a man walking near Ashton Canal, at Portland Basin, in Ashton-under-Lyme, last month.
The man thought the dog was dead as he was in such a poor condition.
