Blaze rips through flat in Fife as fire crews rush to battle flames

Footage has shown fire crews battling a blaze at a flat in Fife. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire at a building on Cowdenbeath High Street at around 9.30am on Tuesday, 27 September.

Four appliances were mobilised and are still at the scene. No casualties have been reported so far.

Video clips show firefighters initially attempting to break into a local convenience store as black smoke pours from the building. A later video shows flames ripping through an upstairs flat.

One local said: "Road is shut. Buses being diverted up Fulford road."

The blaze can be seen through a second floor window (Fife Jammer Locations)

A third said: "Glen Tavern Road is closed about three fire engines lots of police."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 9.30am on Tuesday, 27 September to reports of a building fire on Cowdenbeath High Street. Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances to the scene, where crews are working to extinguish the fire and are still in attendance. There have been no reported casualties."
