Blantyre Victoria boss John Gibson has mixed emotions after contrasting 3-2 scorelines for his side within 48 hours.
Vics picked up their fifth West of Scotland Football League Premier Division win of the term thanks to a victory at home to Rossvale last Saturday, courtesy of a Ronan Kearney double and an Andy Monk strike.
But a trip to Darvel saw them on the opposite end of that five-goal thriller. After levelling twice through an own goal and Kearney, Dale Jones was sent off for accidental handball, infuriating Gibson.
The Blantyre boss said: “We’ve picked up a wee bit which is important. The performance on Saturday was good and we got a win which was really pleasing.
“I thought we deserved at least a point from Darvel and I spoke to their manager, and he thought the same.
“We were well on top at 2-2 and then Dale Jones gets sent off. It’s ridiculous. The ball has hit his hand in their half and the ref has said it was a promising attack.
“He booked him and then the boy kicks it off his hand from a yard – he doesn’t even know about it – and he’s sent off for a second booking. It’s a terrible decision.
“The referee was ridiculous. He had a terrible attitude to both sets of players and management. We lost the goal after going down to 10 men and I am disappointed for the players. They deserved something from the game.”
