Blake Lively brutally mocks Ryan Reynolds over his reaction to Wrexham agony

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds was in agony and ecstasy watching his Wrexham side draw against Sheffield United on Sunday night.

And wife Blake Lively has hilariously poked fun at her husband, admitting she paid to watch him "experience crippling anxiety live".

It was a rollercoaster of emotions for Reynolds, who took over Wrexham in November 2020 along with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney.

His reactions to every goal in the thrilling 3-3 draw were caught on camera - and Blake was able to watch from home.

Hilariously poking fun at her hubby, Blake uploaded a snap of the Deadpool actor looking distraught with his hand on his head.

On her Instagram story, she wrote: "I bought ESPN+ today. Just to watch my husband experience crippling anxiety live."

"Worth it," she cheekily added, before letting her followers know about the scale of Wrexham's achievement.

The Gossip Girl star explained: "They're playing a team 3 leagues higher. And currently winning. Life makes no sense.

"If you're not watching this insane @wrexham_afc game right now you're missing out on these vibes."

Reynolds wasn't watching the match alone, as he was joined by eight-year-old daughter James, who was getting just as excited as her dad.

Before the game, Wrexham would have bitten your hand off for a 3-3 draw, considering they sit 70 places below the Blades in the football pyramid.

But they thought they had snatched victory with just minutes remaining, only for their Championship opponents to level the score in the dying seconds.

After the game, Reynolds paid tribute to Wrexham fans and claimed the game was "one of the most exciting things" he's ever seen.

They earned a rematch against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane - with the winner being rewarded with a fifth-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Reynolds got involved with the Welsh football club after being contacted by close pal and fellow actor McElhenney.

The Definitely, Maybe actor didn't know much about football at the time but has quickly become engrossed in the sport and the local community.

However, Blake wasn't too keen at the start, with Reynolds telling Jimmy Kimmel Live: "I remember after you [McElhenney] contacted about this absolutely crazy idea and I remember seeing Blake, saying, 'I have bad news and I have really bad news. The bad news is I slipped into someone's DM. The really bad news is that I could have bought half of a fifth tier national football league in Wales'."
