Black Ops 7 Season 2 patch notes: New maps, weapon changes, Ranked Play, more

Black Ops 7 Season 2 is one of the most stacked updates the game has seen so far, and it brings fresh weapons, new and returning maps, a massive shake-up to Zombies, and multiple changes across various weapons.

The patch also doubles down on competitive integrity, targeting input-mod devices and tightening anti-cheat to keep lobbies cleaner. We also have the long-awaited launch of Ranked Play, which will further intensify the matches.

Here is everything you need to know about the Black Ops 7 Season 2 patch notes, from new guns and maps to Ranked, Endgame, and more.

Full Black Ops 7 Season 2 patch notes

All new weapons in Black Ops 7 Season 2

Season 2 drops four new weapons, from high-speed SMG rushing to explosive crowd control. Two of them can be claimed from the Battle Pass, while the others can be unlocked later in the season.

The REV-46 is the headliner on the SMG side, and it immediately stands out as it has the fastest fire rate in its class. That insane rate of fire makes it easy to melt enemies at close ranges if you can keep your aim on target, but you’ll need to manage recoil and ammo carefully to get value from each magazine.

Alongside it comes the EGRT-17 Assault Rifle, which is built around superheated rounds that can ricochet off surfaces, coming in handy to hit players who think they are safe behind cover. The AR still performs as a solid mid-range option in standard gunfights, but the bounce mechanic opens up creative plays in tight lanes and interior objectives. It can be a strong pick for those who anchor power positions or lock down lanes in modes like Domination.

For melee fans, the H311-SAW drops in as a brutal close-quarters option. It leans into high-risk, high-reward gameplay where closing the gap is everything, but once you are in range, it deletes opponents quickly. This kind of weapon thrives in chaotic point breaks or on tighter maps where flanking routes and shortcuts make melee pushes viable.

Finally, the GDL Havoc is a pump-action grenade launcher that arrives in the first week via Challenges. Getting it means keeping up with the weekly objective grind, so it’s naturally rewarding if you stay active across the season.

New BO7 Multiplayer maps

BO7 Season 2 expands the map pool with a mix of brand-new locations and a fan-favorite throwback from the Black Ops era. The new map, Torment, is built to emphasize tense close-quarters fights with a lot of interior spaces and quick sightline transitions.

Sake, another Season 2 map, leans into a more thematic, atmospheric setting while still offering a balanced mix of close- to mid-range lanes. It feels designed for flexible loadouts, letting you swap between ARs and SMGs depending on which side of the map you are playing.

Nexus joins the lineup as a new battleground with layered routes and elevation changes that reward smart rotations. The map encourages players to think about timing, flank paths, and spawn control rather than just sprinting straight at the objective.

On top of the fresh maps, Slums makes a return as a classic from Black Ops 2. Many long-time players will remember its central fountain fight and long street sightlines, which again reward good crossfire setups and strong AR play.

To showcase the new locations, Season 2 launches with a dedicated Moshpit playlist. This playlist focuses on Torment, Sake, and Slums across core modes like Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint, making it easy to learn the layouts while leveling new weapons.

Ranked Play finally arrives

One of the biggest talking points in Black Ops 7 Season 2 is the full launch of Multiplayer Ranked Play. This system is built to mirror the Call of Duty League experience as closely as possible, from maps and modes down to weapon and attachment restrictions.

Ranked starts with Placement Matches, where three wins are all you need to get your initial Rank and Skill Rating. From there, you climb through the familiar ladder, moving from Bronze through Silver, Gold, and beyond, all the way up to Iridescent and the coveted Top 250.

The system uses Skill Rating (SR) as your performance indicator, and there are several layers of SR loss protection built in. You get safety nets around key moments like the start of the season, ranking up divisions, your first loss of the day, and when teammates quit or disconnect.

In terms of content, Ranked Play offers long-term career rewards as well as seasonal cosmetics tied to your highest Rank and performance. These can include weapon camos, emblems, calling cards, and operator cosmetics that signal your competitive achievements.

Crucially, the Ranked ruleset keeps things tight by following CDL-style restrictions. Certain weapons, attachments, perks, and equipment that are considered unbalanced or uncompetitive are removed from the pool, pushing the meta toward a more skill-driven, team-based experience.

Key multiplayer balance and gameplay changes

Beyond new weapons and maps, Season 2 includes a range of tuning passes and quality-of-life updates that subtly shift the multiplayer meta. These changes focus on perks, streaks, and utility interactions to make the sandbox feel fairer and more readable.

The Scout perk is one of the notable adjustments, getting changes to how it interacts with high-value streaks like the HARP. Scorestreaks also receive targeted tuning, with D.A.W.G. getting more durability in Sentry Mode. That makes it a more reliable lane-locking tool instead of something that gets deleted the second it hits the field.

Alongside those tweaks, there are smaller fixes and adjustments to weapons, attachments, perks, Field Upgrades, and other streaks. While none of these completely overhaul the game, they smooth out rough edges in the sandbox and tighten balance for both casual and competitive lobbies.

BO7 Zombies: Mars, new modes, and big rewards

Season 2 is huge for Zombies fans, expanding both Survival and Endgame content with new maps, modes, and progression systems.

The headline addition is a new Survival map set on Mars. This location introduces a fresh visual style and layout while staying true to the core Survival formula of holding off waves, optimizing your route, and stretching your resources as far as possible. Mars slots into the existing pool of Survival maps, giving you another option when you want that classic round-based loop.

Two new Survival variants, Cursed Survival and Starting Room modes, join the rotation across multiple maps. Cursed Survival cranks up the difficulty, forcing you to deal with harsher conditions and deadlier enemies in exchange for better rewards.

Starting Room mode, as the name suggests, locks you into the opening area and challenges you to survive with limited space and options. Each of these modes features its own high-round reward track.

BO7 Endgame upgrades, abilities, and Guild Strikes

Endgame receives one of its biggest overhauls yet in Season 2, with new Major and Minor abilities, a fresh Skill Track, and high-risk objective zones that crank the difficulty. Endgame squads now have more ways to personalize their builds and choose how they want to tackle end-stage content.

For Major Abilities, Sentinel Protocol and Blood Burner both join the lineup. Sentinel Protocol gives you access to an AI-controlled robot ally, adding extra firepower and drawing aggro away from your squad during intense fights. Blood Burner brings a combat-ready bike into play, letting you move quickly, reposition, and run down enemies while staying lethal on the move.

The new Eagle Eye Skill Track focuses on improving critical hit damage and ADS speed. On top of these upgrades, Season 2 introduces Guild Strikes and Nightmare Zones. Guild Strikes let your squad trigger intense combat scenarios by activating a strike in a specific area, spawning a Strike Boss, and turning the zone into a high-pressure arena.

Nightmare Zones raise the stakes even further by transforming parts of the map into ultra-high-risk, ultra-reward regions with tougher enemies and better loot.

Anti-cheat, device bans, and security upgrades

Season 2 patch specifically targets input-modifying devices such as Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix-style adapters. These devices are now detected and disabled, removing key tools that players used for artificial recoil control, rapid-fire scripts, and other hidden perks.

This move is particularly important for Ranked and high-level play. By blocking hardware that manipulates aim or input, the game pushes back toward raw skill, proper mechanics, and clean aim tracking as the deciding factors in gunfights.

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat also gets a significant boost on PC. The system now includes stronger remote attestation capabilities built with Microsoft, on top of existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements.
