Black Mirror fans left "traumatised" and "mentally disturbed" as new series released on Netflix

Many Black Mirror fans say they've been left "traumatised" and "mentally disturbed" after watching the brand new series, which came out on Netflix this week. Viewers of the hit sci-fi and dystopian-themed show have taken to Twitter to share their reaction as season six dropped yesterday (June 15).

Comprising of five episodes, the streaming service promising the new season to be its most "unpredictable" yet. Ahead of the season release, creator Charlie Brooker said he hopes the new series will be completely different to any before.

Speaking to Netflix's editorial platform Tudum, he admitted he even wanted to get an AI to write an episode. "It should be a series that can't be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself," he added.

Each episode of series six follows a different story - and a different genre - as viewers are given a glimpse of how humans could be impacted by technology. All five episodes include: Joan is Awful, Loch Henry, Beyond the Sea, Mazey Day and Demon 79.

The synopsis of Joan is Awful reads: "An average woman is stunned to discover a global streaming platform has launched a prestige TV drama adaptation of her life — in which she is portrayed by Hollywood A-lister Salma Hayek Pinault."

While Beyond the sea is said to be set "in an alternative 1969", as "two men on a perilous high-tech mission wrestle with the consequences of an unimaginable tragedy." In wake of the new series, masses of fans have headed online to discuss the latest instalments - which come four years after season five.

Westindiansauce tweeted: "I love when Black mirror episodes leave me traumatized and mentally disturbed for 12 hours." Q_Prodigal declared: "Word to me, I’m not gonna sleep well at all tonight."

Steponmegillian admitted: "Literally just sitting on my bed and thinking 'how can i recover from this s***?'." Kswatkins22 put: "Loch henry got me messed up."

Along with a GIF of actor Aaron Paul crying from Breaking Bad, Legoatburner623 put: "Just finished watching Beyond The Sea #BlackMirror." Beepalatino exclaimed: "THE FIRST TWO BLACK MIRROR EPISODES WTF."

Puflyx penned: "The first two new black mirror episodes have already f****d me up, love it." THECANADIANUPR1 joked: "You have to have a few cocktails before watching."
