How to choose a golf bag
Bag Type
Put simply what kind of bag do you want? Do you want a stand bag? Or a cart model? Both of these types of bag have their positives and negatives and you should think about what you think is important to your golf.
Stand bags are built for those who want to carry their clubs around the golf course which means factors like comfort and weight are very important. Stand bags also have to offer waterproofing as well as strength and robustness. The two negatives most associated with stand bags are they require more effort to use, and they usually don't offer as much storage as cart bags. However, that being said there are several stand bags above that can also be used on golf carts as well so maybe that is a way of killing two birds with one stone.
Cart bags are for those who want to use golf carts on the golf course. If this is you, then you'll likely want a stable model that is not only easy to lift and move around, but also one that sits firmly on your cart. One big advantage we have found is that cart bags also tend to offer ample storage for accessories, apparel, valuables and all the other golf paraphernalia you might need during the round. The main negative is they are just bulkier and have to be taken off the cart before and after the round, whereas stand bags offer a bit more freedom.
Storage
Storage is key in golf, with bags needing pockets for a wide range of items - extra layers, waterproofs, balls, tees... I could go on.
Cart bags, being larger and easier to access, offer greater pocket capacity for carrying more gear. Stand bags, meanwhile, are typically equipped only to house the bare essentials but most still provide you enough storage to take an extra jacket or jumper out onto the course.
Waterproofing
If you golf in an area that experiences frequent rain, selecting a bag that offers full rain protection is truly a no-brainer. Conversely, if you're lucky to live in a drier climate, this factor becomes less crucial. It's worth noting that some models reviewed excel in this area because they were specifically designed with robust weather protection in mind.
Weight
Across all golf bag styles, weight is a crucial factor. Stand bags must be exceptionally lightweight for comfortable all-day carrying. Similarly, we don't want our cart bag to be too heavy, both on the course and when transferring them from the car to the cart. Fortunately, most brands now offer lightweight models across their ranges, recognizing that few golfers prefer a heavy bag.
Looks
Whether you realize it or not, the look of your golf bag matters. Whether you choose a stand or cart model, brands invest heavily in design to ensure their products either catch the eye or offer a discreet presence on the course. Take time to decide which bags you like the look of and investigate the range of color options provided.
Budget
Price is our final factor, and fortunately, the market caters to every budget. Whether you prefer investing in a premium cart model or opting for a budget-friendly cheap stand bag, the choice is yours. Remember, as highlighted earlier, the top-tier models can often be found at a discount.
When is Black Friday?
This year the two shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, take place roughly a week later than they usually have done in the past. In 2025, Black Friday will take place on November 28th and, in terms of Cyber Monday, it will take place on the 1st December. Consequently, you have so many opportunities to purchase gifts for Christmas, or for yourself.
Should I buy a new golf bag on Cyber Monday?
If you are looking to get a new golf bag this Black Friday, we would advise you to bookmark this page so that you can see the best deals in the weeks leading up to the event.
On that note, when you find a bag you like, in a color you like, we would recommend acting fast. Whilst bags rarely run out of stock, certain colorways may become very difficult to find and certain types of golf bags like waterproof ones will be more popular over the winter months. Therefore, the best deals often go rather quickly, but don't fret though as we have seen loads of bags go on offer in years gone by.
If you need or want a new golf bag, this is the time of year to strike with Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas all offering good opportunities for deals.
How to find the best Black Friday Golf bag deals
As you can see above there are loads of golf bag deals out there right now so, the question is, how do you find the best ones? How do you know a good deal from one too good to be true? Well, I have covered shopping events for a number of years now so I have collated some of my top pieces of advice for finding the bag you want.
1. Do research beforehand and make a list
I always say to people, know what you want to buy before going into the shopping event. That means putting in some research on the golf bag you want so you know prices, discounts, specs, reviews and specific models in and out. That way you can be focused on the day and not have to waste time. This will also give you knowledge on what is actually a good deal and what is a good price.
2. Set a budget
On Cyber Monday it is easy to spend too much or buy things you don't actually need so I tell people to set yourself a proper budget and stick to it. And similar to that point, do not panic buy!
3. Don't limit yourself to Amazon
Of course there will be a lot of focus on Amazon during Cyber Monday but, as you can see above, there are deals with retailers like PGA TOUR Superstore, Rock Bottom Golf, Carl's Golfland, Clubhouse Golf, Scottsdale Golf and loads more. Therefore when doing your research take a look elsewhere as well.
4. Price check everything
I really think this is one of the most important things to do when shopping in sales events. I recommend price checking bags across several retailers to see if the price is actually good, or if you can get it lower somewhere else. This does require having a number of tabs open.
That being said price checking on Amazon is quite easy. I use CamelCamelCamel, a website that price checks millions of items sold on Amazon, a lot. The website tracks price lows, so if the item you're looking at was cheaper at some other point, you'll be able to see the price difference.
5. Watch out for shady reviews
This is something to be aware of but at Golf Monthly we only write about products we have tested ourselves and used properly. That is why you can see so many links to our reviews on the deals above.
On retailers like Amazon there are a lot of reviews that are not legitimate, and whilst Amazon has removed a lot of bogus reviews, there are so many that not all of them can be. So I recommend just keeping your eyes out for reviews that seem a bit fishy.
Where to get the best deals
In the US, some of the best golf retailers include PGA Tour Superstore, Rock Bottom Golf, Walmart and, of course, Amazon. In the UK, the best golf retailers include Scottsdale Golf, American Golf, Sports Direct, Click Golf and Amazon.
Amazon can be tricky to navigate (check out our best Amazon Cyber Monday golf deals) but they're a fantastic retailer for golf watches, lasers and balls in particular. Other retailers to keep an eye on are the brands themselves so Nike, adidas , Puma and Under Armour.
