For 63-year-old state BJP president Chandrakant Dada Patil, it was a major setback in his three-and-half-decade political career following the humiliating defeat of BJP nominee Satyajeet Kadam from Kolhapur North assembly constituency.
Ever since the by-election was declared following the death of Congress legislator Chandrakant Jadhav, Patil had taken the complete responsibility of the election management, following which the BJP leadership had given him a free hand.
