One town in Merseyside has a piece of history that not many of its residents know about.
Located in the cemetery of St. Luke's church in Formby tucked away from the road is the town's original village stocks. Stocks were used to punish people for crimes such as drunkenness and swearing.
The unfortunate person would sit or stand in the stocks while local people would hurl rotten food or even stones at them. The stocks were located on Phillips Lane next to Formby's prison called Roundhouse.
