Bizarre cloud formations spotted by Glaswegians amid Storm Dudley have left residents gobsmacked.
The strange and ominous looking clouds which were noticed in the sky above the city this afternoon have sparked a lot of questions.
Locals in places such as Busby, Anniesland, Partick, Pollok and the southside shared videos and pictures of the golf-ball like clouds, asking others if they had seen them before, reports Glasgow Live.
One person tweeted: "These clouds look like they are painted!", while another wrote: OK. WHO MESSED WITH THE CLOUDS?!"
And they were joined by another Glaswegian who posted a short video of the sky above Glasgow on Twitter along with the caption: "Just some odd wee clouds kicking about Glasgow. The sky is incredible at the moment. So much going on. It's exciting."
The clouds are in fact mammatus clouds, which The Glossary of Meteorology defines as “hanging protuberances, like pouches, on the undersurface of a cloud”.
Website Learn Weather r say the unusual clouds are "gentle downdrafts – sinking cool air – that form, evolve, and dissipate over a time span of about ten minutes to half an hour" and usually form amid thunderstorms.
