Bitterly cold start to year to continue as heavy snow falls in some areas

The bitterly cold start to the year is set to continue over the weekend, with heavy snow already causing widespread travel disruption in parts of Scotland.

A number of yellow weather warnings for snow and ice are in place, with the latest warnings reaching into Monday, while amber snow warnings for northern Scotland and Shetland are in place until Saturday.
