Popular French restaurant Bistrot Pierre in Altrincham has closed down. A member of the restaurant staff confirmed that it closed its doors for the last time on December 27.
The staff member, who did not want to be named, added that staffing issues had been the primary reason for the closure. “It’s just one of those things, we’ve had a lot of issues with staff and it’s been ongoing since covid,” they said. “It’s about having that trust with people wanting to come back into hospitality. They’re now afraid places will just close down.”
The restaurant opened in 2016, on the corner of the pedestrianised George Street and Cross Street. The large two-floor unit had 170 covers, and was part of the larger Bistrot Pierre group of restaurants.

There are 19 Bistrot Pierre restaurants across the country, from Torquay to as far north as Ilkley. There is also another branch in Preston, though it’s not thought that the Altrincham closure will affect other branches.
The chain suffered badly in the pandemic period, and had to bring in administrators in 2020. It was later sold as part of a pre-packaged deal to a new management team.
Six of its sites were forced to close, bringing with it 123 redundancies, though the buyout saved over 680 jobs in all.
