Birds Eye and Deliveroo offering takeaway meals for £3

Birds Eye is to launch its first-ever home delivery service, via Deliveroo, offering meals using some of its most well-known products – and some new - for less than £3 per dish.

As part of the one-day delivery pop-up on Deliveroo, Birds Eye, supported by its Aunt Bessie’s and Green Cuisine brands, has created five fake-away dishes, all of which have been carefully crafted by Masterchef: The Professionals finalist, Arnaud Kaziewicz. Using cooking methods which are energy-saving, cost-effective and simple to follow, Arnaud aims to show how easy it is to recreate "fake-aways” at home using Birds Eye’s frozen products.

All five dishes will be available to order via the Deliveroo app on November 29, 2022, in London and Manchester. From fish & chips, accompanied by mushy peas and tartare sauce, to a Mexican chicken burger and a vegan southern-fried chicken-free burger & fries, all five meals will be available to order for less than £3, including delivery.

  1. Crispy mayo chicken burger & mini potato waffles - £2.99
  2. Classic fish & chips, with mushy peas and tartare sauce - £2.35
  3. Flamin' Mexican chicken stack burger & fries - £2.99
  4. Salt & pepper chicken goujon wrap with crispy slaw & fries - £1.80
  5. Vegan Southern-fried chicken-free burger & fries - £2.05

The five fake-away recipes and their preparation methods will also be available to view at www.birdseye.co.uk/favouritefakeaways from 29 November.

Jim Shearer, Marketing Director at Birds Eye, said: “We hope to inspire shoppers with our fake-away recipes and show them just how easy it is to make affordable and delicious meals from their freezers. All the ingredients have been picked with value and convenience in mind, meaning they are easily accessible in stores or supermarkets available on Deliveroo, which provides a great channel for shoppers to buy our products for even more convenience. As the nights draw in, we all like to enjoy a bit of comfort food or that takeaway treat, so we’re very excited to be partnering with Deliveroo, the UK’s leading meal delivery service, bringing the benefits of frozen literally to consumers’ doors.”

Money saving expert, Kate Hall said: “I often find that people don’t always realise the fun to be had with frozen foods. Getting creative with your freezer by making ‘fake-aways’ at home is a great way to feel like you’re treating the family, without having to always splash out on an extravagant meal out. I think about how I cook my food as well to help reduce my energy bills, using air fryers - when it’s suitable - gives a lovely crunch on fish & chips, or I make sure I cook multiple items at the same time in the oven to make best use of it.”
