Binge watched Unchosen? Here are 3 similar Netflix shows you should add to your watchlist immediately

Molly Windsor in Unchosen.

Netflix's new series Unchosen quickly climbed the charts, becoming the number one watched series this week. With six episodes dropping at once, viewers all over the world have been binge watching the latest thriller series.

The series stars Molly Windsor as a wife and mother in a religious sect, who begins a journey of female emancipation after a chance encounter. Its a heavy watch but it's had people captivated, despite its divisive Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Unchosen's themes reminded me of three Netflix original shows that are well worth a watch. Scroll down to see what I recommend adding to your watchlist on the best streaming service.

Unorthodox

Creators: Anna Winger and Alexa Karolinski
Cast: Shira Haas, Amit Rahav, Jeff Wilbusch
Episodes: 4
Age Rating: TV-MA

This miniseries follows Esty Shapiro, a 19-year-old Jewish woman who is in an unhappy arranged marriage within her ultra-Orthodox community. After deciding she no longer wants to live there, she runs away to Berlin to try to navigate a secular life.

At just four episodes, this is a very interesting and at times, difficult watch, as we explore Esty's journey of self-discovery while she tries to evade her husband, who is trying to track her down.

Alias Grace

Creators: Sarah Polley and Mary Harron
Cast: Sarah Gadon, Edward Holcroft, Rebecca Liddiard, Zachary Levi, Kerr Logan, David Cronenberg, Paul Gross, Anna Paquin
Episodes: 6
Age Rating: TV-MA

Based on the novel by The Handmaid's Tale's Margaret Atwood, Alias Grace follows an Irish immigrant living in Canada, as she is convicted of the murder of her employer.

But things take a turn when a psychiatrist arrives to analyze her mental state, where he looks into her memories and tries to determine if she is a killer or innocent. It's gripping and very easy to watch all six episodes, and hey, I wouldn't judge you.

Pieces of Her

Creator: Charlotte Stoudt
Cast: Toni Collette, Bella Heathcote, Jacob Scipio, Omari Hardwick, David Wenham, Jessica Barden, Joe Dempsie
Episodes: 8
Age Rating: TV-MA

Finally, Toni Collette plays Laura, a woman with a dark past in Pieces of Her. When her daughter is caught in a deadly shooting at a local diner, and Laura eliminates the threat easily, we begin to unravel the truth about her.

There's a fantastic cast here, and you'll be on the edge of your seat trying to piece together (no pun intended) the story. Like the others, it can be a difficult watch, but it is a great Netflix original you shouldn't sleep on.
