Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi has paid an emotional to the Crocodile Hunter star on the 16th anniversary of his death.
The 24-year-old has followed in her dad's footsteps with his love for wild animals and took to Instagram on Sunday to share how his love for animals also lives through her daughter.
Bindi opened up to her 4.9 million followers to share her heartfelt words alongside a snap of her and her dad on a late-night adventure as she proudly held a baby alligator. She also shared the sweet nickname she refers him to to her daughter, 17-month-old Grace who she shares with husband Chandler Powell.
She wrote: "Grandpa Crocodile, I know you would’ve been the most incredible grandfather because you were such an extraordinary dad. Thank you for being an amazing guardian angel for Grace."
Fans were quick to share their appreciation for the family in the comments section of the post. One user wrote: "You carry all his love with you now."
Another penned: "He gave this world such a gift by sharing his life with us. I'm sure Grace will think of him as a superhero as she grows and she'll be right. He was extraordinary and so are you."
And a third said: "Your father will be proud of who you are right now."
Steve died in 2006 at the age of 44 after a stingray barb stabbed him in the chest while he was filming for a wildlife documentary. Bindi was aged eight at the time.
Her brother Robert was just two-years-old. He too posted on social media on Sunday, saying: "It's Father's Day today in Australia, and I am sending my love to those who are missing their dad today. I cherish all the good times with my dad and feel grateful to be able to keep his memory and legacy alive."
Their posts come a week after Bindi had uploaded another sweet video of her daughter. The clip showed Grace walking up to a mural of Steve, his wife and a koala bear.
She captioned the post: "Tears in my eyes as I share this video. We call my mum and dad, Bunny and Grandpa Crocodile with Grace. She loves them (and koalas) dearly. On every zoo walk she searches for pictures of her grandparents and it is beyond beautiful."
