Billy Gilmour has confirmed his move from Chelsea to Brighton on a four-year deal, netting a cash windfall for his former club Rangers.
The midfielder has found chances at Stamford Bridge hard to come by and despite starring performances for the Scotland national team, struggled on loan at Norwich City as they were relegated from the Premier League. He has now been snapped up by Graham Potter's side who have spent for a fee in the region of £9 million, with some reports claiming it's as high as £10 million Chelsea have accepted.
Rangers inserted a sell-on clause in his contract when he moved to London as a teenager and that is set to come back to boost the Ibrox coffers to the tune of over £1 million. A loan move had been mooted earlier in the window but now Gilmour is moving on to pastures new permanently in England's elite league.

Potter said: "Billy arrives with a fantastic pedigree, having played in the Premier League and Champions League as well as for Scotland at last year’s Euros. He will complement our existing midfield options.
“That experience at quite a young age shows the strength of character he has and we’re really excited by his potential.
“Now it’s about allowing him the time to get used to a new environment and settling in to our club. We can’t wait to work with him.”
