Billy Dodds has VAR fear as Crawford Allan visit does little to soothe Inverness boss' Scottish Cup hunch

Inverness boss Billy Dodds fears VAR could dominate the Scottish Cup showdown with Falkirk.

The use of video technology will be a new experience for the Championship side and their League One rivals at Hampden on Saturday afternoon. Dodds has seen all the unwanted headlines it has made in the Premiership this season and hopes there are no repeats this weekend.

The Highlanders and their players have had an insight into VAR from referees’ chief Crawford Allan this week. Dodds said: “You are wary of it, let’s just say that. It was good of Crawford to come up and explain how it is going to work because it is new to us. I worry about it after some of the things I have seen this season. I just hope we can avoid having to use it too much.

“I just want us to go and win the game, that is all I am looking for. Hopefully, VAR doesn’t have too big an impact on the game.

"As a former player, manager now and a guy who is looking after my team, you can’t help but worry about it sometimes. Let’s hope it runs nice and smoothly. Let’s put it like that.”

Inverness are facing their Scottish Cup Final for the first time since they lifted the trophy back in 2015.
