At the NFL owners’ meetings, Buffalo Bills (and Buffalo Sabres) owner Terry Pegula spoke about his wife Kim. Terry and Kim worked side-by-side in managing the daily operations of the Bills and Sabres until June 2022 when Kim suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 53.
Her condition was not revealed until eight months later, one month after Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered his cardiac arrest on the field against the Cincinnati Bengals in January 2023. In February 2023, Terry and Kim’s daughter, Jessica Pegula, a WTA tennis player, wrote an essay in The Players Tribune sharing what happened.
Since that time, Kim Pegula has rarely been at Bills practices. She has not been photographed or interviewed. Either she watched from a vehicle or was mainly out of sight from the media.
Her low profile is a stark contrast to how she used to be. Terry Pegula misses that version of Kim who would do the little and big things well, like baking cookies for the coaches and being a strong female lead involved with the teams. He is trying to elevate women in the organization to follow her example noting that he has three daughters who are active in the family business.
How Is Kim Pegula’s Health?
Kim suffered a brain injury along with the cardiac arrest. She deals with memory issues and cannot be involved in the daily operations of the Buffalo sports teams.
Josh Allen said it was special seeing #Bills owner Kim Pegula break the team down in the post-practice huddle: “It’s the least we can do, to rally around her.” #BillsMafia pic.twitter.com/OW8l3oMgix

The Buffalo sports teams have rallied around the Pegula family. If one of the teams wins a championship, it will certainly be dedicated to her. The Bills are 10-3 and in first place in the AFC East. The Buffalo Sabres are 11-13-4 and in seventh place in the Atlantic Divsion. Neither team has ever won the championship in its sport.
