The Buffalo Bills on Friday placed Damar Hamlin on Injured Reserve.
The move allowed the team to activate Christian Benford from IR, so the Bills would have a complete roster for Sunday’s game with the New England Patriots.

The team also announced former Pitt and Bills star RB LeSean McCoy will be the legend of the game on Sunday.
“Before the game happens on Sunday, hearing great news that Damar’s responding well, he’s conscious, he’s talking, he’s communicating with the team,” McCoy said. “All these things create the narrative of a big game, and it gives the guys something to play for other than just the seeding. They’re playing for their brother who fought for his life. It makes the story so much better.”
The All-Pro and Pro Bowl running back played in Buffalo from 2015-18 where he tallied 3,814 rushing yards and 30 total touchdowns.
“Damar is a Pitt brother of mine,” McCoy said. “A young kid with a chip on the shoulder as he plays his game. He’s trending in the right direction with so many improvements. Each day, we get more news that he’s improving. So, it’s going to be an exciting day and I can’t wait.”
