Bills’ Josh Allen Opens Up About Jets’ Acquisition of Aaron Rodgers

The Jets’ acquisition of Aaron Rodgers has positioned New York as a contender in the AFC East, and it’s fair to say the defending division champions have noticed. The Bills are coming off three consecutive AFC East titles, and now they face stiffer competition with Rodgers under center for the Jets.

As a result, the NFL scheduled a Bills-Jets game for Week 1, with the division rivals scheduled to open the season on Monday Night Football at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 11.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg about Rodgers coming to the AFC East, and Allen said he’s keenly focused on the Jets.

“They’re game one. That’s the only team I’m worried about right now,” Allen said.

In 2020, Allen finished second to Rodgers in MVP voting. Allen explained to Lundberg how important Rodgers has been to the sport, with so many young quarterbacks having admired him growing up.

“I’m such a big fan of Aaron. I grew up such a big fan of him,” Allen said. “I think he’s done so much for the game of football. You see a lot of quarterbacks who are younger throughout the league, and there’s a lot of his game that everyone tries to emulate.”

In addition to the Week 1 matchup, the Bills will play host to the Jets in Week 11 at Highmark Stadium.
