Western New York has two things in spades: residents who take their long-suffering Buffalo Bills fandom beyond the point of rational thought and snow.
When these two surpluses intersect, it can create magic. Last week, each Buffalo touchdown was accompanied by a symphony of snowballs launched into the air in celebration. It can also create problems.
We saw this vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers when fans tried to break up a potential George Pickens catch by slinging ice at the field. That led to some backlash — but not enough to prevent the fans who packed Highmark Stadium for a divisional round game against the Kansas City Chiefs from doing it again.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had no chance of catching that overthrown pass. And even if Patrick Mahomes put it on his numbers there’s always a reasonable chance he’d drop it anyway. That made Sunday’s ice ball especially egregious — and fans and analysts made sure to take Bills Mafia to task for it.
UPDATE: Things didn’t get any better once the Chiefs had clinched the win. Here’s a look at the Kansas City sideline as their players made sure the western New York faithful knew the score.

Bills fans throwing snowballs at receivers in the corner of the end zone is the best home field advantage of all time 😂

Bills fans on the whole are great, except the scumbag throwing snowballs in the middle of a play.

DO NOT THROW SNOWBALLS ON THE FIELD!!! 🤬
Hochuli does not need any more fuel for his fire.
And it’s classless.

Throwing snowballs at an opposing team mid play is nasty

Jail time for snowballs please

Nice redzone hold by Bills D as Mahomes misses a couple of tough throws.
Another tough throw: the snowball that someone threw from the stands at MVS as he tried to catch that ball.
Better be careful. If there’s any ref that would flag the Bills for that, it’s probably Hochuli

How are fans allowed to throw snowballs at players during a play? I know he had no shot at catching that, but there should be a penalty for that.

Bills defense getting demolished by injuries but the fans throwing snowballs in the endzone appear to be at full strength
— George Chahrouri (@PFF_George) January 22, 2024
Fans, don't throw snowballs. Our team WILL get flagged.
