- Comedian Bill Maher has claimed that Donald Trump is "way less" of a threat than he used to be, describing him as a "lame duck" whose actions have not directly disrupted the daily lives of wealthy critics.
- Maher made the remarks on his Club Random podcast shortly before Donald Trump launched a 1,300-word social media rant branding the television host a "total loser" and telling him not to call anymore.
- The fallout follows two White House dinners attended by Maher, after which he mocked the president's approval ratings and behaviour on his show Real Time with Bill Maher.
- In his social media tirade, Trump accused Maher of being "gutless" and claimed the comedian repeatedly begged for a second White House dinner despite later attacking him on air.
- Maher has yet to publicly respond to Trump's social media post, having previously noted that he was more alarmed by Trump a decade ago than he is today.
