Bill Foley has completed his takeover of Bournemouth, with actor Michael B. Jordan leading a minority group also involved.

Previous owner Maxim Demin had been involved with the club since 2011, when the Cherries were in League One, but he has now sold his 100% stake to Foley’s company Black Knight Football Club.

American businessman Foley, who owns NHL ice hockey franchise the Vegas Golden Knights, will be the club’s chairman, with a number of limited partners also involved in the takeover.

The 77-year-old is chairman of Cannae Holdings Inc., which has a 50.1% interest in the club, with Hollywood star Jordan now a part-owner of the Cherries through the minority ownership group.

“I have tremendous respect for the passion and support the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for success of any sports team,” Foley said in a statement.

“We will move forward with an ‘always advance, never retreat’ approach that has defined all of my endeavours.

“I am committed to work with the best football and business minds available to enhance player development, facilities, and the fan experience to put AFC Bournemouth in the best possible position to succeed.”

Bournemouth’s return to the Premier League this season got off to a disastrous start, with Scott Parker sacked after the fourth game of the campaign when the Cherries were beaten 9-0 by Liverpool.

Gary O’Neil has impressed as interim manager though, so much so that he was appointed permanent boss last month, and the club are 14th in the table ahead of facing Chelsea on December 27 in their first Premier League match after the World Cup.
