New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is not committing to changing things up at quarterback after Sunday’s tough 38-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
But at the same time, he did say the team would “talk about” potentially giving more first-team reps to backup Bailey Zappe.
Buy Patriots TicketsZappe replaced Mac Jones to begin the second half of Sunday’s 38-3 drubbing. Zappe went 4-of-9, throwing for 57 yards. Jones struggled all afternoon and would finish the game going 12-of-21 for 150 yards, one fumble and two interceptions.
Jones’ benching raised questions about the New England quarterback situation moving forward. The Patriots might need to address things further at some point, but for now, Belichick is keeping everything status quo, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Zack Cox.
“I doubt anything would change significantly,” said Belichick. “But we’ll talk about that. I don’t know. We haven’t gotten to that point yet.”
