New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick gave praise to rookie wide receiver Kayshon Boutte after a successful preseason and training camp.
The former LSU star especially broke out in Week 2 of the preseason, when he caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers. He has made a strong case for himself to be a part of the wide receiver room on the 53-man roster.
The wideout has shown his athleticism and his ability to run after the catch. He has the potential to be the explosive weapon New England has been missing at the position.
It appears Belichick views him in a positive light. Belichick talked to the media on Saturday morning and spoke about what Boutte brings to the table.
“As camp went on, seemed to get stronger and more productive both in practice and games … that was very encouraging,” said Belichick, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “Showed an explosive ability on the field. Kayshon has had a strong camp.”

Boutte’s roster fate, along with the rest of the Patriots’ hopefuls, will be decided by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, which is the 53-man roster deadline. At the very least, he has put himself in the best possible position to make the team.
