Bill Belichick gives stern answer to Trent Brown benching question

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick did not elaborate on his decision to bench offensive tackle Trent Brown in Week 11, during an appearance on The Greg Hill Show Monday.

Brown has been a key part of the Patriots offensive line during his time in New England. However, he has struggled this season. On Sunday, Isaiah Wynn started at left tackle, and Yodny Cajuste started at right tackle.

The New England offensive line struggled against the New York Jets in allowing six sacks on the day. The line struggles contributed to a difficult offensive day for the Patriots, as they were held to only a field goal. Instead, the game-winning touchdown came on a punt returned for 84 yards by rookie defensive back Marcus Jones.

Belichick refused to elaborate on why Brown was benched and would not offer a timeframe for the decision.

“It doesn’t really matter,” Belichick responded, when asked when he came to the decision to not start Brown.

The Patriots’ offensive line will need to perform better as they prepare to face some formidable defenses in the coming weeks. It will be intriguing to see if Brown will be part of the equation.
