Fans shared the impact Lock had on them in response.
Among the sea of comments, one wrote: “Way too young, what a sad loss to humankind. It always seems to be the good guys that go.”
Another added Lock was a “comedy genius, and all round great man and clearly a wonderful friend to so many”.
It comes after panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown aired one of his final episodes on Friday.
At the end of the episode, a kind tribute of the comedian was shared: “In loving memory of comedy legend Sean Lock, 1963 – 2021.”
The show revealed on Twitter: “New #CatsCountdown on @Channel4 at 9pm tonight with guests @HarryHill, @josierones, @nickmohammed… and comedy legend, the late great Sean Lock in one of his last appearances on the show.”
On social media, his fans described the episode as “bittersweet”.
Among the comments, one wrote: “When I saw this, my eyes filled with tears. RIP Sean Lock.”
Lock won a legion of fans with his surreal and deadpan comedy. He was voted one of Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Stand-Ups.
One of his first TV appearances was back in 1993, alongside Rob Newman and David Baddiel on their signature TV show Newman And Baddiel In Pieces.
