A motorbike rider has been airlifted to hospital following a collision on a Scots motorway near Dunfermline.
The crash, at around 12.40pm on Sunday, led to police closing the M90 in both directions at Halbeath.
Motorists were encouraged to seek alternative routes after the smash created lengthy queues towards central Fife and Edinburgh.
Images shared on social media showed police vehicles parking across the road to block traffic while they attended to the injured biker.
Witnesses said an air ambulance landed nearby to transport a casualty to hospital for treatment, since confirmed by police.
The rider was taken by helicopter to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Their current condition is unknown.
The northbound road re-opened shortly after 2pm while one lane of the southbound route re-opened at around 2.20pm.
Both roads were fully opened by 2.40pm - but a lane of the northbound motorway has since been closed off in an unrelated incident involving a broken-down bus.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.40pm on Sunday, 17 April, police were called to a report of a road crash involving a motorbike on the M90 southbound between junction 3-4 at Halbeath.
"Officers attended and the motorcyclist was taken by Air Ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh."
