MOTIHARI: A man allegedly killed his 82-year-old father with a sharp-edged weapon over a petty dispute at his home in Gonahi village under the Patahi police station area in East Champaran district on Saturday.

SHO of Patahi police station Anuj Kumar said the accused, Ram Vinay Singh (42), hit his father Chandra Singh on his head with a hoe in a fit of rage following a dispute over harvest of pulse crops. The elderly man died on the spot. According to locals, Ram Vinay's mother had died earlier and his father was living with his youngest son Shatrughan Singh, who works in Delhi.

Pakaridayal SDPO Sunil Kumar Singh said an FIR was lodged in connection with the case and efforts were on to arrest the accused.
