Manchester United fans have been left furious after Luis Enrique opted not to include David de Gea in his 26-man squad for the Qatar World Cup.
De Gea has not featured in a match for the Spanish national team since a 1-0 defeat to Ukraine in the Nations League back in 2020. Since then, the United stopper had been relegated to the bench for the entirety of 2021.
This year however, De Gea's stock dropped further and he has failed to make the national team side during the whole of this year as the Spaniards prepared for the World Cup in Qatar. United's long-term number one has enjoyed a tricky spell on the pitch with the Reds under-performing.

But he was one of the few players to come out of last season with praise for his performances. Under Erik ten Hag, De Gea initially suffered a couple of wobbles but has re-established himself as the top goalkeeper with some outstanding performances - most recently vs Real Sociedad and West Ham.
Enrique instead decided to overlook De Gea's performances and has opted to pick Athletic Bilbao's Unai Simon, Brentford's David Raya and Brighton and Hove Albion's Robert Sanchez. Although it is by no means a surprise the 32-year-old has not been picked considering he is out of the Spain coach's plans, United fans have still made their thoughts known about the decision.
Full Spain squad: Simon, Sanchez, Raya; Carvajal, Azpilicueta, Garcia, Guillamon, Pau Torres, Laporte, Alba, Gaya; Busquets, Rodri, Gavi, Carlos Soler, M. Llorente, Pedri, Koke; Ferran Torres, Nico Williams, Yeremy Pino, Morata, Asensio, Sarabia, Olmo, Ansu Fati.
