Michigan State will make its debut at the 2023 Big Ten Tournament on Friday.
The Spartans will take on Ohio State in the mid-afternoon matchup, with the winner moving on to the semifinals on Saturday. The Spartans and Buckeyes just played a tightly contested battle last week so this should be another fun game at the already very exciting Big Ten Tournament.

No. 1 Purdue vs. No. 9 Rutgers
Tip Time: 12 p.m. ET
TV: Big Ten Network
Prediction: Purdue beats Rutgers
Rutgers was the first team to beat Purdue earlier this year so can they do it again on Friday? It’s possible since they’ve done it before — and on the road for that matter — but I don’t like their chances this time around minus one of their top offensive threats in Mawot Mag. The Boilermakers move on to the semifinals.
No. 4 Michigan State vs. No. 13 Ohio State
Tip Time: 2:30 p.m. ET
TV: Big Ten Network
No. 2 Northwestern vs. No. 10 Penn State
Tip Time: 6:30 p.m. ET
TV: Big Ten Network
Prediction: Penn State beats Northwestern
Penn State should have clinched their bid in the NCAA Tournament with Thursday night’s victory over Illinois, but why not guarantee it with a win on Friday? These two teams met just last week with Penn State winning on the road in overtime, and I believe they’ll again get the best of the Wildcats.
No. 3 Indiana vs. No. 6 Maryland
Tip Time: 9 p.m. ET
TV: Big Ten Network
Prediction: Indiana beats Maryland
The final game on Friday should be a good one between Indiana and Maryland. The Terps won the only regular season meeting between these two teams but Maryland has been a different team away from home. I like Indiana to make a few more plays late and pick up a narrow victory over the Terps.
