Big records set during Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians IPL clash

NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad etched their name in the annals of IPL history with a monumental total of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians, the highest-ever in the tournament's history.

Travis Head's explosive 62 off 24 balls propelled Hyderabad past the previous record, setting the stage for a thrilling 31-run victory.

Despite Tilak Varma's valiant 64, Mumbai's chase fell short on a high-scoring night that witnessed a staggering 38 sixes, setting a new IPL record.

Sunrisers' formidable batting display, highlighted by Abhishek Sharma's rapid half-century and a stellar partnership between Heinrich Klaasen (80*) and Travis Head (62), proved too daunting for Mumbai.

Following are few of the big records set and broken during the run-fest in Hyderabad:

4/10:RCB - 263/5 vs PWI (2013)

The match where the world witnessed the “Gayle Storm” at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium. On April 23, 2013, Chris Gayle left Pune Warriors India (now-defunct) shattered as records tumbled every step of the way. He scorched his way to 175* runs off just 66 balls at a strike rate of 265.15 with 13 boundaries and 17 sixes which remains the highest individual score in IPL and T20 cricket.

5/10:RCB - 263/5 vs PWI (2013)

It was also the fastest century in the IPL while the Proteas AB de Villiers smoked 31 runs off just 8 balls to help RCB to post a mammoth 263/5, the second highest team score in IPL history. This is also RCB's highest score in the IPL. PWI in reply couldn't even get close to the target and were restricted to 133/9 in their 20 overs. 8/10:RCB - 248/3 vs GL (2016)

RCB have a rich history over the years of some of the fiercest batters in world cricket playing for them in the IPL. 10/10:RCB - 248/3 vs GL (2016)

Kohli finished on 109 runs off 55 balls, his innings included 5-fours and 8-sixes whereas De Villiers smashed 129* runs off 55 balls. The target proved to be too steep for GL who were restricted to 104 in the 19th over. De Villiers was named Player of the Match for his stellar innings.
