Nottingham Forest top scorer Lewis Grabban has been ruled out of action for the next two months with an ankle injury, head coach Steve Cooper has confirmed.
The forward limped out of last weekend's defeat to Cardiff City and left the stadium with a protective boot sparking fears he could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Grabban could even require surgery and is now not expected to return until the latter end of the campaign.
The news is a blow for Forest with Grabban currently on 13 goals for the season and spearheading their charge towards the play-offs.
And after the news emerged, Forest fans have reacted on social media and here's what they had to say on Twitter.
Scott Lee Helmkay: "Horrific news for us and Grabs. Let’s hope Surridge can kick on. Davis looking promising too. Big back end of the season coming up."
JP: "Still got Davis and Surridge plus many other goal scorers in the team."
Ryan: "Chance for Davis to step up and Surridge, if not we are gonna be falling down the league."
Nathan Joyes: "This would be one hell of an achievement if we can get top-six without him."
Kieren: "Not worried one bit, believe we’ve got 2 good options to cover! If he is to leave then we need to cope and not rely on him."
Nick: "Big loss, hopefully, they sort his contract out whilst he is out."
Speaking about Grabban, Forest head coach. Cooper said: "The injury is still settling down. They know exactly what the problem is, it’s just the extent of it. He’s going to see another specialist,”
“He’s not broken it, it’s like an ankle sprain.
“He’s going to be out for at least two months.
“He’s still going through the process of whether he needs an operation or not.
“It’s still slightly inconclusive how long he’s going to be out for, but it’s going to be a minimum of two months.
“I feel sorry for Grabbs, because he was having such a good season and was playing really well for us. And it’s a blow for us as well.
“But it’s happened and we have to look forward now.
“Grabbs will get the care that he needs.
“He’ll be around the group and he’ll still try to be as much of a captain as he can be, without contributing on the pitch.
“But at the same time, the games are still there; we have to 100 per cent believe in the players who will be playing in the games. It’s a challenge that we look forward to.”
