Big Brother's Rylan Clark in tears as ITV confirm they're bringing it back and viewers make plea

Rylan Clark was left in tears as news broke that ITV are bringing Big Brother, at the same time many fans made an immediate plea to have him host the show.

It's been 22 years since Big Brother made its debut on TV, starting life on Channel 4 in 2000, with Davina McCall as host and Craig Phillips its first ever winner. It stayed on Channel 4 for 10 years, with other winners including Brian Dowling, Kate Lawler, Pete Bennett and Josie Gibson.

Big Brother ended its run on Channel 4 with Ultimate Big Brother in 2010, won by Brian, before being picked up by Channel 5, with a series of celebrity and civilian versions running until 2018, when it aired for a final time. Rylan won Celebrity Big Brother at the start of 2013 and went onto host spin-off Bit on the Side.

As soon as rumours circulated about Big Brother potentially returning, Rylan has been very vocal about his desire for it to be back on screens and, as ITV confirmed they'd taken it on, the news proved a bit much for the former X Factor contestant. Rylan uploaded a video of himself on the phone saying: "We've done it, we've done it."

One replied: "You need to present it @Rylan your the best," with another, making the same call, reacting: "Yes! So happy !!!! You HAVE to present it!!!"

A third posted: "if they don't bring you back we'll start a petition," before Rylan then tweeted ITV's Big Brother logo, adding: "He was always watching… It’s coming home."
