Bathroom retailer Victorian Plumbing has created a miniature bidet to raise funds to protect British bees on World Bee Day, May 20. The miniature bidet is accompanied with a bespoke, tiny bathroom, fully equipped with a walk-in shower and bathtub.
The unique bathroom provides every creature comfort... If you’re a bee, and is made from a mix of ceramic and vitreous china as well as acrylics. Curated by a team of artistic designers, the micro-bidet set launches a new campaign where sales from all adult-sized bidet’s benefit the charity.
The sales of the bidets will go to the British Beekeepers Association to help fund the Save the Bees appeal, which delivers extensive research into the dangers honeybees face and how to tackle them. Customers can also donate to the appeal by purchasing a bidet here.
Since 1900, the UK has lost 13 species of bees, with a further 35 under threat of extinction, due to climate change and loss of forage. The British Beekeepers Association has one main goal: to preserve and promote the art of beekeeping. This tradition, in turn, will help the preservation of the humble honey bee. Such research projects aid school programmes which equip the next generation with valuable skills they need to become beekeepers.
Clare McGettingan, who is a British Beekeepers Association Trustee, said: “The British Beekeepers’ Association feels flushed with delight that Victorian Plumbing is supporting us on International Bee Day from the sale of their bidets. This donation will go towards our Save the Bees appeal, helping us learn more about the threats honeybees face in our environment.
Joe Pascoe, Chief Marketing Officer at Victorian Plumbing, said: “Bidets for Bee Day will help raise awareness of the great work that the British Beekeepers Association are doing. Bees significantly impact our environment and ecosystem; we have a duty of care to make sure we are protecting them wherever possible. Over the last five years, the sales of adult bidets have increased tenfold and range in price between £100 and £1900 so hopefully, we can raise a nice amount for this cause“.
