WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden will meet with the parents of Austin Tice, an American journalist who went missing in Syria in 2012, at the White House on Monday after journalists encouraged him over the weekend to prioritize Tice’s case.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the meeting to reporters on Monday, noting the president’s national security team has been in frequent contact with the Tice family since December of last year.
“We have been very closely engaged with the family, and obviously meeting with the president is an additional and more significant step in that regard. But we have been in close touch with them as well,” Psaki said.
